According to research figures just released, Australians simply want to watch video content when and where they want.
Just nine months ago, Aussies were only watching about 35 minutes of mobile video per month on their phones and other mobile devices, however this amount has dramatically changed with new statistics revealing that it’s now more like 1 hour and 20 minutes per month.
It’s not only mobile video viewing behaviour thats changed, recorded video and content watched over the Internet (Internet TV or IPTV) has also risen significantly.
So what’s causing the escalation? It appears that smart devices such as Tablets and Smartphones along with faster and more robust broadband services are leading the way, however let’s not forget the ever increasing amount of content available and content providers either.
As you can probably imagine, demographics primarily behind the surge are Aussies aged between 18-34. They are the responsible for about 70% of the trend, and if you extend the bracket to include 18-49 years, this equates to around a staggering 93%.
