You knew the Apple Store was big, but just how big? Well to help you quantify the extent of Apple’s popularity when it comes to downloading applications, Apple has just made an announcement stating that the company has just reached the 25 billion downloads mark.
In the lead up to the milestone, Apple automatically entered all of their customers into a 25 billion app contest, and for one lucky entrant who happened to download the 25th billion application, they were set to receive a $10,000 App Store gift card. Not bad for just downloading an app that the respective contestant was otherwise probably going to do anyway.
Similarly, Google had announced that its Android Market had hit the 10 billion app mark back in December. Although it was a tad short of the Apple achievement, to be fair, the company was late off the starting blocks (in relation to Apple App Store) with its ever increasingly popular Android operating system.
